The return from the Easter break didn’t quite go to plan… poor littleun has had a really nasty virus the past couple of weeks and is still off school recovering, so the past week has been an unexpected extended juggle of mumming and working - and trying to be okay with not keeping all the plates spinning (to be honest I never manage to keep ALL the plates spinning, but plate spinning has felt VERY minimal this past week!)
However I have managed to create a couple of new patterns and have hit an exciting milestone too so I just wanted to pop in and share some updates with you!
A refreshing celebration
Last time I mentioned that I was thinking of using the next Spoonflower Design Challenge ‘Party Wall’ to refresh and add to my Confetti Balloons collection, and that’s mostly what I’ve been up to this past week.
For my ‘Party Wall’ design challenge entry I created a party streamers pattern (below) inspired by the balloon tails on my original balloon pattern (above). I’ve never been so indecisive about a challenge entry, I wasn’t sure which colourway to enter, and had to ask around to see what other people thought. After all of that, with lots of input, I ended up back where I’d started with my favourite version - the multicolour streamers with the blue background!
The other thing that left me in two minds was completing the sprinkles pattern (below), because I am completely smitten with the multicolour version on the white background - simple but so fun! I say simple, but it actually took a lot of time and tweaks to get the balance of the colours and sprinkles right… sometimes the simplest patterns hide a lot of work behind the scenes!!!
The next design challenge is coming up this Thursday so I’ll let you know when it’s open for voting (as well as the results from the previous challenge which are released at the same time!)
In the meantime the whole collection is now available on Spoonflower as fabric, home decor & wallpaper
What do you think of the updated collection? Which is your favourite pattern? Vote below and let me know what you think of the collection in the comments…
A milestone moment
Over the weekend I hit an exciting milestone - In less than four months of 2024, I’ve now made more Spoonflower sales than I did in the whole of 2023!!!
It’s been exciting seeing regular sales of my Crafting Notions collection, especially the buttons pattern I added this year… I’m so glad I persevered with it when it felt like it wasn’t quite right, because it’s seem bright and fun buttons is a design people have been looking for!
I also feel like my wallpaper experiment might pay off! The past few weeks I’ve been starting to see regular sales of wallpaper swatches from the Wonderful Walls collection, including various colours of the design I created for the Warm Minimalism Spoonflower Design challenge! Hopefully some of those swatches will end up being full wallpaper orders 🤞
And other highlight recently was noticing that on Spoonflower I’d recieved a favourite on my orange geometric donuts design from an bright & colourful influencer who I’ve been following on instagram for a few years! It was lovely to have my design noticed by someone who creates content that constantly reminds me to keep being myself and designing my bright & colourful loveliness because there are a lot of people out there who love that kind of thing!
Talking of my Tropical Neon Treats… I have more plans to add to that collection ahead of summer so keep and eye out for updates on that over the next couple of months!
Final chance to vote
It’s the last 24 hours of voting for the current Textured & Tonal Wallpaper Design Challenge so if you were planning to vote but forgot, this is a little nudge to do it before voting closes at 8pm tomorrow (Tuesday 23rd April)
You don’t need to login to vote. The order of the designs is randomised for every voter, so just keep looking through until you find mine. You need to vote for 3+ designs, so you vote for others you like while you’re looking for my entry, and then you can submit your vote at the bottom of any page!
I’ll find out how I got on later in the week and let you know the results in my next email!
That’s all for now… I’m aiming to get the May Feel Goodies sorted this week so I’ll pop back to tell you about those when they are ready, plus I’ll let you know how I got on in the Textured & Tonal design challenge and let you know when voting has opened for the Party Wall challenge too!
