While my crabby title might be a pun in reference to updating my Rockpool Fun collection, I have to admit I am actually feeling a little crabby at the mo because some extra horrible brain fog is making work - and life - a lot harder than usual! Hopefully it’s just temporary, so I’m just doing my best with it… including creating my latest Spoonflower challenge entry!
Back in 2022 I created the original Rockpool Fun patterns inspired by trips we’ve taken to the beaches around the Mumbles in Swansea. The Feel Goodies I created that August coincided with a camping holiday in Tenby, where we saw more crabs than I’ve ever seen in one place at Saundersfoot Beach, so now this collection reminds me of that holiday too!
When I saw there was a Crustacean Core Spoonflower Design challenge coming up I thought it was a great moment to refresh and add to the original collection. As well as playing with a couple of new crabby designs (below) I decided to add a seaweed blender pattern, and also add in a green version of my original mono pattern to fit with the expanded collection.
My first idea for the design challenge was a striped design that had a deckchair feel to it, but doubts crept in so I decided to have a go at another design…
…I ended up entering the red version of this design, and I have no idea whether that was the right thing to do! To be honest there are a lot of really stunning designs in this challenge, and I think either way neither of these would stand out strongly against some of the very beautiful and detailed entries. Saying that, I am still proud of all the patterns in this collection, and they remind me of some really happy summer moments with littleun & hubby, I think I just missed the mark for the challenge itself!
Cast your vote…
I realise I sound quite defeatist, but I’m not totally giving up hope of getting a reasonable result, I just don’t think this is a pattern that’s going to make the Top 100! Still every vote does count - there was only 10 votes between 400th & 500th place in the last challenge, so if you do have a few minutes to scroll and vote (and check out some of the other gorgeous designs!) then it is really appreciated!
The ‘Party Wall’ design challenge is open for voting until Tuesday 21st May at 8pm (BST) and your support is very much appreciated! If you have a few minutes while you grab a cuppa or are watching the telly then head over here to vote.
You don’t need to login to vote. The order of the designs is randomised for every voter, so just keep looking through until you find mine. You need to vote for 3+ designs, so you vote for others you like while you’re looking for my entry, and then you can submit your vote at the bottom of any page!
Results are in…
These past couple of design challenges I’ve had so much indecision, and I wasn’t totally happy with my last challenge entry, but I still made it to 419th, which is better than my previous three challenges, so it’s not too bad!
I do really wish I’d designed my sprinkle confetti triangles before the deadline as looking at the Top 100 I think it’s more aligned to the designs that did well in this challenge…
As with all my collections, the whole Confetti Balloons collection is available to shop as fabric, home decor and wallpaper. Find it here!
That’s all for now! Don’t forget to vote in the Crustacean Core design challenge if you get the chance - your vote will make a difference!
The indecisive part of my brain seems to still be in the drivers seat as I haven’t made a final decision on what I’m doing for our June Feel Goodies yet - thankfully there’s still a couple of weeks for me to get sorted. I’ll pop back to give you a first look when I’ve finally decided!
